Collections created by Premium Subscribers can be made public or kept private. If you make your collection public, it can be shared and may be promoted throughout the site, via the GoComics newsletter, or on social media either by the GoComics team or anyone with the URL. If you keep your collection private, it is not visible to anyone else and cannot be shared or promoted
Note: You can change the privacy setting for your collection at any time.
Public Collection
If the owner of a collection is an active Premium Subscriber and has made the collection public, anyone with the URL can view the collection, but they cannot make any changes to the collection itself. If you change a private collection to public, sharing and liking will be enabled, and any previously saved likes and comments will be restored. Anyone on GoComics will be able to see the collection, and it may be featured across the site.
Commenting is only available on public collections, and enabling comments is optional. To turn comments on or off, slide the “comments” toggle button at the top of your public collection to On or Off. Hiding comments hides all existing comments; they aren’t deleted and will return when you show comments again. While hidden, no one can add new comments.
- If a registered user views the public collection of a subscriber, they will see ads. If commenting is enabled, they can engage in the comments section.
- If a guest user views the collection, they will see ads and will not be able to engage in the comment section.
Private Collection
A private collection is exactly as it sounds; it’s an organized collection of comics just for you. If you want to make a public collection private, toggle the button indicating “public” (shown in the screenshot above), to the Off position. Likewise, if you want to make a private collection public, toggle the button back to the On position.
Changing a collection to private disables sharing. Likes and comments for the collection will be hidden (not deleted) and will be restored if you make it public again.
